Located in an environmentally sensitive area, the reconstruction of Beach Road in Lake George, NY   was   a   unique   opportunity   to   use   porous   pavement   as   an innovative   stormwater management solution. This presentation will focus on the transportation improvement element of porous  pavement  and  briefly  present  an overview  of  the  engineering  basis  of  design  and science   behind   the   porous   pavement   design,   its   environmental   benefits,   applicability, construction methods,  recommended  construction  quality  control,  and  expected  long  term impacts relative to water quality preservation.
